چکیده
Abstract Electrons lenses produce a high-intensity electron beam and have variety of applications to circular hadron accelerators. Electron beams different transverse cross sections distributions may be designed, depending on the desired application, they are produced steered along orbit beam, overlapping with it for typical distances few meters before being deflected away disposed of. Hollow find collimation machines like CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Such devices can integrated in system improve halo-cleaning performance through an active control halo dynamics: annular distribution electrons excites resonantly tails surrounding core, while core itself remains unperturbed, as ideally only “sees” field-free “hole” distribution. part upgrade baseline High-Luminosity project LHC (HL-LHC) will installed machine during long shutdown 2025–2027 mitigate effects from losses so performance. This paper describes hollow lens within HL-LHC upgrade.

Electron Lenses for Particle Collimation in Lhc
Electron Lenses built and installed in Tevatron have proven themselves as safe and very reliable instruments which can be effectively used in hadron collider operation for a number of applications, including compensation of beam-beam effects [1], DC beam removal from abort gaps [2], as a diagnostic tool. In this presentation we – following original proposal [3] – consider in more detail a possi...
متن کاملThe Large Hadron Collider LHC
The Large Hadron Collider Project LHC was approved by the CERN Council in December 1994. Commissioning with beam will start in the second half of 2005. The paper discusses the most important parameters, the general layout of the LHC octants, the status of the experiments ALICE, ATLAS, CMS and LHC-B, proton injection using the PS Booster, and the proton synchrotrons PS and SPS. Also described ar...
متن کاملCollimation with Hollow Electron Beams: A Proposed Design for the LHC Upgrade
Collimation with hollow electron beams is a technique for halo removal in high-power hadron beams. The concept was tested experimentally at the Fermilab Tevatron collider using a hollow electron gun installed in one of the Tevatron electron lenses. Within the US LHC Accelerator Research Program and the European HiLumi LHC Design Study, we are investigating the applicability of this technique to...
متن کاملBeam Instabilities in Very Large Hadron Collider
The Very Large Hadron Collider (VLHC) is a superconducting proton-proton collider with approximately 100 TeV cm and approximately 10 s−1cm−2 luminosity [1]. Currently, beam dynamics in this future accelerator is the subject of intensive studies within the framework of the US-wide VLHC R&D program. This presentation summarizes recent developments in the field. Besides general discussion on relev...
متن کاملInteraction of the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) Beam with a Graphite Target
The proposed concept probably refers to the assumed similarities with the physical conditions prevailing in “inertial fusion” experiments where a small sphere of D+T is compressed to very high densities by a set of high power beams (laser radiation, or particles) with almost spherical symmetry to reach conditions of ignition in the center: an achievement not yet realised with hydrogen isotopes,...
